I graduated in 2025 with a Bachelor’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (PDUNIPPD), New Delhi. I am currently working as a Prosthetist and Orthotist at Nimblegait Health Tech, Delhi.
What do you claim is your specialty – your O&P passion?
While I enjoy both Prosthetics and Orthotics equally, my true passion lies in patient consultation and rehabilitation. I believe that understanding a patient’s physical, emotional, and social needs is just as important as providing the right device. Helping patients regain confidence, independence, and hope is the most rewarding aspect of my profession.
What do you like most about practicing O&P?
What I love most about practicing O&P is witnessing the transformation in my patients’ lives. Whether it is helping someone walk again, perform daily activities independently, or simply smile with confidence, every small achievement feels like a shared victory. Being a part of their rehabilitation journey is incredibly fulfilling.
What frustrates you about O&P?
One of the biggest challenges I see is the lack of awareness about Prosthetics and Orthotics as a profession. Many people are unaware of the extensive training and expertise required in this field, and Prosthetists and Orthotists are often not recognized for the critical role they play in healthcare. I hope to contribute to increasing awareness and promoting the value of our profession in India.
What is your greatest patient story in O&P?
One of the most memorable moments in my journey was helping a patient through rehabilitation and seeing them regain confidence in their daily life. The joy and gratitude they expressed, along with the heartfelt blessings they gave me, reminded me why I chose this profession. Those moments of human connection and the ability to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life are priceless.
How do you build rapport with patients in your care?
I believe rapport begins with listening. I take the time to understand my patients’ concerns, goals, and expectations while treating them with empathy and respect. Building trust, communicating openly, and encouraging them throughout their rehabilitation journey helps create a strong therapeutic relationship and improves outcomes.
